ODRC Shoot Reports : New Items added June 2011 2011 competitions More Competition at Llansilin The following is a report on the competition held on Saturday 11th June 2011 Organised by your very own - SJ Clark Esq. The competition shoot held at Llansilin Range on Saturday 11th June 2011, was considered by all who attended, an excellent day. We were fortunate to be blessed with good weather (Apart from a light, barrel cooling shower after the comp.). I have already thanked the Almighty. I will take this opportunity to offer my grateful thanks to all the Range Staff who worked tirelessly all day to ensure that everything went to schedule. To work all day down the Butts ensuring that correct procedure is done at the correct time and to give guidance, was in itself a magnificent job done successfully. The Safety Officers on the firing point were also eager to assist anyone who needed their help. There were no breaches on safety issues. See below for a few photo's of the day including Prize Winners. Captions to follow later. Below : Arrival & Set Up
Above & Below : Shooters on the line trying to engage Targets at 300 yds. Assisted by the Range Staff.
We must not forget John Masefield, who in is position of
Scorer, did a good job of deciphering the individual scores upon receiving them
after each detail came from the Butts. The Score Chart attached to this report,
is taken from the original score sheet compiled on the range. (Copy of the
shooters score card, is available
on request) The score sheet will show where a Firers weak and strong points are. The week points can be rectified by practice, when at a general shoot on a suitable Range. The challenge to shoot against the clock will always get the firer excited and forget about their breathing and sight picture before releasing their shot. (Practice makes perfect, as they say) Shooters Scores are listed below :-

After a few initial gremlins, the competition went smoothly. I am writing this to say thanks to the members & officials who volunteered to come & help run the shoot, it could not have taken place without them, some of whom traveled long distances to get there, they are:- Lyndon Cooper, Of course, last but not least Sid Clark who did all the planning, made the targets, organizing & running the competition. A very big thanks to him. We are all on a learning curve with these competitions, what we have learned today will be taken on board & used in future & as always any input from members will be most welcome, it’s your club & it will be what you make it. Here’s to the next one.

A Previous Competition held at Llansilin. Course of Fire & Targets By Mr SJ Clark
The competition that was held at Llansilin on 23rd May was,
according to the 30 members that attended, a success. Above are the photographs
of the winners for each class, there were four places in both classes’ to be
won, Scope and Iron sight. A special “Thanks” goes to Mike and John Holbrook who attended to help by being the Butts officers for two details, they did not come to shoot but to be of help in general, perhaps more members should consider being of help to the club on such competition days. There were other members who worked on the day that made it all very worthwhile. A big “Thank You” to all concerned. Comments from Members. SJC 1. It is good fun shooting fast; I have never done that before.
